Green River Car Crash Victim Identified, Vigil To Take Place Thursday

vigilA candlelight vigil has been planned to honor a Green River High School student who died in a car crash Monday morning.

Green River High School Principal Darren Howard said the student council has planned a candlelight vigil for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Green River High School gymnasium to honor the 17-year-old girl who died in the accident, identified by Wyoming Highway Patrol as Maicy Braden.

Rather than utilizing open flame, the students have elected to use “virtual flames” through apps on mobile devices.

The candlelight vigil is open to the public.

Also on Thursday, Green River High School will participate in a camouflage theme day to honor Braden’s love of the outdoors.

“She loved the outdoors, so the kids came up with the idea,” said Howard. “They’re all going to wear camo in her honor.”

A moment of silence will also take place before the annual Cancer Awareness Volleyball Game on Wednesday.
