From the beginning of January to the end of May can be an exciting time for any hunter. The application period is in full swing and if you are anything like me, you have been rifling through the new regulations trying to decide what species you’d like to pursue come fall, or even what area you want to hunt.
For some, we’ve had it in our minds since last year when we failed to draw the tag we applied for. But, if you are anything like me, you change your mind more than some people change their socks, which can make it hard to stay focused that long on one thing.
The good news is you still have two months before applications are due, and the Game and Fish has a really great application tool to help you plan your hunt which can make it just a little easier.
As for me and the wife this year, I am pretty sure we will be putting in for elk and antelope. We have always had good success with our general deer area so not sure yet as to if we are going to try someplace new just yet. Although who knows, I may change my mind and apply for that special deer tag too.
Whatever you and your friends and family choose to apply for this year, I wish you good luck.
