Elevated Fire Conditions in Effect Today

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued the following special weather statement concerning elevated fire conditions in Southwest Wyoming:

Elevated fire weather conditions can be expected for all of the southwest quadrant in addition to south central Wyoming this afternoon and evening. Relative humidity will be in the teens this afternoon and evening across the lower elevations… and the upper teens to around 30 percent in the mountains. Winds will be west.

10 to 15 mph with occasional afternoon gusts 20 to 25 mph at times. Residents, travelers, and campers this weekend are encouraged to take strong caution if considering any type of burning activities. Please follow local burning rules. In addition, do not park your vehicle over any dry plant surface as this could cause the vehicle to go up in flames.
