Pheasant Hunting Education Series For Women And Youth

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is hosting a three-part educational series to help women and youth learn to hunt pheasants.

Rons Ace Rental May 2

The class is designed for beginner hunters and will cover all aspects of hunting pheasants. “It’s hard to go from being interested in hunting to actually hunting,” said Kathryn Boswell, hunter and angler participation coordinator for the Game and Fish Department. “The safety, skills, laws, gear and even how to clean and cook your harvest can be overwhelming. This is a special opportunity for women and youth to learn – and hunt – in a non-threatening environment.”

The class will be held on the following dates:
Saturday, Aug. 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Cheyenne Trap Club, 5320 Bishop Blvd. Participants will become familiar with gear and a cooking demonstration will be provided by Sportsman’s Warehouse. The class will also cover shotguns, safety in the field and shooting a variety of targets.
Saturday Sept. 16 from  9 a.m. to noon at the Cheyenne Trap Club, 5320 Bishop Blvd. Additional shooting and gun safety, pheasant habitat and behavior, a hunting dog demonstration by the Cheyenne Retriever Club, safety when shooting over dogs and how to plan a pheasant hunt.
Saturday, October 21 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pheasant Hunt near Hawk Springs.Participants are responsible for transportation and will need to purchase a game bird license and a conservation stamp prior to the hunt. These are available at or at the Game and Fish Department Headquarters, 5400 Bishop Blvd during normal business hours.
