Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office

County officers are hoping the public might have information on a 4th of July incident just north of Rock Springs.

Sheriff Mike Lowell said deputies were dispatched to the BLM horse corrals on Lionkol Road east of Elk Street at about 10:05 PM on the night of the 4th.

The call involved a man with a gun, who was said to have pointed his firearm at a group of young men, telling them to “get on the ground.”

The victims described the suspect as a 20 to 25-year-old male wearing a red ball cap and a red shirt, who was driving an older blue SUV.

The suspect left the area before deputies arrived, and drove off into the area behind Century Park.

“We don’t have much to go on beyond the description provided,” Lowell said, “so we’re hoping someone may have seen this individual on the night of the 4th.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (307) 875-1400. Calls will be handled with discretion.
