The Wyoming High School Activities Directors, basketball and volleyball coaches have decided the conference pairings for the upcoming 2018 volleyball and 2018-19 basketball seasons. Starting this season, the top 16 schools, based on a two-year enrollment average, will now be designated as 4A teams. That means Star Valley, Riverton and Cody will move up to the 4A ranks this season for volleyball and basketball but remain 3A in football.
There will now be four 4A sports conferences for volleyball and basketball. Green River will be part of the Southwest Conference with Evanston, Jackson and Star Valley while Rock Springs will compete in the Northwest Conference with Cody, Riverton and Casper Kelly Walsh.
The Southeast Conference will feature Laramie, Cheyenne East, Central and South with Sheridan, Gillette’s Campbell County and Thunder Basin high schools and Casper Natrona in the new Northeast Conference.
This alignment will remain in effect through the 2019-2020 sports season.
In local high school sports today, Green River will take on Rock Springs today in boys and girls tennis.
