The Rock Springs Tiger Football Team started the season at home to face the defending 4A state champion Sheridan Broncs which ended in a 21-6 loss. The Tigers opened their season once again having to face the 4A champs from the previous season.
The Tigers started the game tough against the defending champs with both teams going scoreless in the first half. The first half highlighted six punts, one fumble and four first downs combined by both teams.
The second half started with the Tigers fumbling on the very first play of the half. Sheridan scored on the very next play on a 38-yard touchdown run from running back Parker Christensen to make it 7-0. The next possession the Tigers turned it over on downs. Sheridan would score two more times on a 20-yard touchdown pass and a fumble recovery for a Touchdown of over 90 yards.
The Tigers got on the board with 1:46 left in the game through the air with a 23-yard TD pass from Justus Reese to Nick Faigl. The two-point conversion was no good. The Tigers ended the game on a high note going into next week.
Tomorrow the Wyoming Cowboys start their season on the road against New Mexico State. The pregame show starts at 7pm on Jack-FM 99.7 with kickoff set for 8pm.
Farson-Eden will also be in action tomorrow for a scrimmage with the Evanston JV team.
Rock Springs will travel next week to play Laramie, who lost to Kelly Walsh 27-14. The game will be at 6pm.
