United Way Of Southwest Wyoming Holding Their Annual Helping Hands Day Today

United Way of Southwest Wyoming Helping is holding their Annual Helping Hands Day on August 25, 2018.

Helping Hands Day promotes volunteerism from the community made up of a volunteer team of families, sports teams, civic groups, church groups, businesses and individuals who go out into the community to complete improvement projects. These projects help people with disabilities, senior citizens and non-profit organizations. Some projects include facility repairs, renovations, beautification projects and yard work.

“Individuals, including many senior citizens in our community, submit project requests because they cannot physically or financially do the projects themselves. Non-profit groups submit projects that they may not have the manpower to complete on a regular day,” said Kelly Frink, Executive Director for United Way of Southwest Wyoming. “This is a national volunteerism event that will raise awareness of challenges in our community and lets people see when we work together, we can accomplish more than we can on our own.”

August 25th has been set as Helping Hands Day, projects can be completed on days that are more convenient for volunteer teams.

Currently, there are 57 projects, but many have not been chosen by any volunteer teams. They range from washing windows to tightening gutters. There are several projects that would take only a few hours and are easy to complete. When a project requires supplies that the agency or individual cannot afford, the teams, because of local sponsors, can submit a supply request to have needed supplies donated.
