The YWCA of Sweetwater County provides multiple volunteer opportunities for those seeking to help in the community.
The YWCA works in the community with the goal of eliminating racism, empowering women, promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. They work to help families in need regardless of income.
Those interested in volunteering for the YWCA can call 352-6635 and talk with the Development Director, Kayla Mannikko.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Early Care and Learning Center – Volunteers at the Early Care and learning Center work in child care classrooms with teachers. Those seeking to volunteer directly with the children will be required to complete the background check process.
- Center for Families and Children – Volunteers work with victims of family violence either in the office or on the 24-hour crisis line. Volunteers for this program will participate in a 40-hour mandatory training.
- Project Based Volunteering – YWCA offers a variety of specific projects for which people can volunteer. If anyone wants to volunteer for one particular project or event, has ideas for a project, or wants to learn more about these opportunities, call 352-6635 and speak with Kayla Mannikko.
- Internships – If a student is interested in an internship as part of his or her education program, please call the YWCA to learn how they can help.
