Anastasia “Anna” Helen Acker , 97, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Mission at Castle Rock . A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Acker died following a lengthy illness.
She and her twin sister were born on November 5, 1919 in Red Lodge, Montana, to Ferdinand and Helen Matkovich Gecan.
Mrs. Acker attended schools in Red Lodge, Montana and was a 1937 graduate of the Red Lodge High School.
She married Alfred John Acker in San Francisco, California on July 15, 1944 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1998.
Mrs. Acker worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for several years.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
Her interests included spending time with her family, her cats, camping, cooking and traveling.
Survivors include three sons Larry Acker and wife Donna and Michael Acker and companion Rita Hunt of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Alfred Acker and Barbara Butterworth of Salt Lake City, Utah.; six grandchildren Angela Acker, A.J. Acker, Dennis Hughes, David Hughes, Laurie Randall and Danny Acker; eight great-grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Theresa, two brothers Frank and Freddie, one sister Mary, one granddaughter Dyan Petrie.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.
