Jack E. Walsh, 83, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
He was born on December 10, 1932 in Farmer City, Illinois, the son of Jack G. and Ruth Ann Medley Walsh.
Mr. Walsh attended schools in Gloucester, New Jersey and graduated in 1948. He then attended WestPoint and later graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
He married Ruthanna Donges in Conshohocken, New Jersey on August 5, 1955.
Mr. Walsh was a United States Airforce Veteran of the Vietnam War. He made a career as a pilot with the United States Airforce for twenty five years and retired with an Honorable Discharge in 1977. He then went on to work for Union Carbide in Chicago, IL as an engineer for twenty more years.
His interests included computer drawing and designed plans for model airplanes. He enjoyed building model airplanes and was an expert marksman.
Survivors include his wife Ruthanna Walsh of Rock Springs; one son Jack E. Walsh, Jr. and wife Patti of San Diego, California; two daughters Karen Dickson and husband Rusty and Susan M. Been all of Rock Springs; one brother Douglas Walsh of Tennessee; one sister Linda Weaver of Arizona; six grandchildren Jonas Dickson, Bradley Dickson, Rachel Pappas, Travis Fleckenstein, Jack Walsh and Shannon Walsh; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and military honors and inurnment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
