Loris Joan Smith (March 20, 1929-July 5, 2018)

Loris Joan Smith, 89, of Green River, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Mission at Castle Rock.  She had been a long time resident of Green River.

She was born on March 20, 1929 in Ithaca, New York, the daughter of Walter L. Griffin and Mureen Cooper.

Mrs. Smith attended schools in Ithaca, New York and graduated from High School in 1947.

In 1948 she married James Leigh and they divorced in 1952.

She later married Robert N. Smith in Lansing, New York in 1965 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1989.

Mrs. Smith was employed as an administrator for Montgomery Wards for fifteen years and retired in December of 1968.

Her interests were working crossword puzzles, picture puzzles and reading.  She also was a caregiver for her mother and late husband.

Survivors include one son Terry Leigh and wife JoAnn of Green River, Wyoming; one daughter Janet Calhoun and husband Walter of Glenview, Illinois; one sister Marilyn Hagin and husband Roger of Lansing, New York; three grandchildren, Jennifer Haeck and husband Dwayne, Laura Leigh, Michael Calhoun, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, as well as several extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Leland Griffin.

Cremation will take place and there are no services per her request.
