Rock Springs- After six months, 18-year-old Taden Morell has graduated from Basic and Infantry OSUT in Ft. Benning, Georgia. His title is now Private First Class Taden Morell.
Ever since he was a child, Taden had a passion for serving our country. He trained himself from a young age to prepare for this. As a kid, Taden received his Eagle Scout and also chose to participate in school sports. During his senior year, he enlisted with the Wyoming National Gaurd.
That’s not all, when he graduated from Rock Springs High School, he had one of the highest GPAs in his class. It seems like all of his hard work paid off and his strong work ethic followed him to his training where he qualified as an expert on his weapon. Taden plans on using his education from the GI bill and the Hathaway Scholarship to one day become an anesthesiologist.
When asked what the most valuable thing he learned during his training was, he stated, “Even if you’re doing something difficult, the only way to get out of it is to see it through.” His favorite part of the training was all of the friends he made who made the whole process go by a lot quicker. Taden said one of the most challenging things about training was, “Doing what the higher-ups wanted, like laying in a wet swamp in 30-degree weather for hours on end.” Taden did point out that through all of this, he didn’t have a very hard time with training.
Taden wants other people who are just starting training to know that, “If they chose to do OSUT, they better make friends because those are the people you will be with for a long time.”
