SUPERIOR, WYOMING (October 12, 2021) — The new community center at 3 North Main Street in Superior, WY is celebrating with a ribbon cutting this Friday, October 15 at 4:00.
The building was in the works before Superior Mayor Dominic Wolf took office. He is now in his last year. The plans for the community center changed course when Wolf came into office. Originally, it was going to be a brick building. Instead, it is a really well-insulated steel building.
“The money wasn’t all there that we needed, so we had to downsize the building,” Wolf said. “But it turned out to be a great little community center.”
The center consists of a kitchen, a large basketball gym, and two nice bathrooms. It is for the community, to be used for such things as weddings, playing basketball, and local nonprofits.
Construction started in April of this year. The entire cost of the building was accomplished with two grants. One grant for $500,000 was from the Wyoming Business Council, and another $500,000 from Mineral Royalty Grants. A Blue Sky grant is covering the soon-to-be solar panels. The basketball hoops were donated by Pleasant Construction in Green River.
Mayor Wolf will be cutting the ribbon at 4:00 this Friday, October 15.
