1% tax increase for Sweetwater County on Nov. 2 ballot

SWEETWATER COUNTY, WYOMING (July 16, 2021) – Voters will be able to vote for or against a 1% general purpose tax on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021.

The Sweetwater County Clerk’s Office received the amount of approved resolutions needed on Thursday from governing bodies and incorporated municipalities of the county to put the tax increase proposal on the ballot.

City councils and commissioners had until July 15 to approve the resolution and needed at least 50% approval to place it on the ballot.

The Sweetwater County Board of Commissioners, the city of Green River, Superior, Wamsutter and Granger all approved the resolution. On Tuesday, July 6, the Rock Springs City Council split the vote so the resolution did not pass.
