The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be briefly closing a section of Interstate 80 near the Superior exit and Point of Rocks exit (milepost 122 to milepost 131) to conduct some rock scaling work. Crews are currently working in the area and the closures will be necessary for certain site areas that are too close to the highway for scaling activities to take place safely.
The closures will begin this Wednesday, May 15, and will carry on for the rest of the week, weather permitting. The closures will take place intermittently between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. for no more than 20 minutes at a time. WYDOT is advising that local traffic plan accordingly for the delays.
Since both directions of travel in the area are head-to-head single-lane traffic due to a current resurfacing project that is underway, both eastbound and westbound traffic will experience the delays.
WYDOT would like to remind drivers to slow down in work zones, be alert and cautious of roadside workers and obey all traffic control devices. For more information on road construction, closures and weather conditions, please visit http://www.wyoroad.info.
