Cold shooting dooms Cowgirls against CSU

February 18, 2022 — The Colorado State defense bottled up the Wyoming Cowgirl offense Wednesday night in Fort Collins as the Cowgirls fell 56-45. Wyoming shot just 28-percent from the floor in the loss. A big third quarter from the Rams was the difference, outscoring the Cowgirls 24-12 in the frame.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Cowgirls and dropped UW’s Mountain West record to 8-6 (12-11 overall). CSU is now also 8-6 in the conference (17-7 on the year). Wyoming is now in a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference with the Rams and Air Force. UNLV (12-1/21-4) leads the race.

The first half of the game ended with the two teams tied at 21-21. However, CSU would outscore the Cowgirls 24-12 in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in the contest.

Wyoming was led in scoring by Tommi Olsen with nine points. Allyson Fertig and Alba Sanchez Ramos each added points in the loss.

Wyoming will return home to host UNLV next Thursday. Wyoming plays their last three games of the regular season at home.
