Cowboys look to stop their scoring drought and losing streak today

October 30, 2021 — After opening the non-conference season with four straight wins, the Wyoming Cowboy football team will be looking to stop a three-game road skid today at San Jose State. In addition, the Poke offense will be looking to score their first touchdown in 10 quarters. The last Wyoming touchdown came in the second quarter of a road loss at Air Force on October 9.

Today’s Cowboy game will be broadcast on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com
beginning at 12:30 with the game start time at 2 p.m.

Wyoming enters today’s game with a 0-3 mark in the Mountain West and 4-3 overall. San Jose State is 4-4 on the year and 2-2 in the conference. The Spartans are coming off a 27-20 win at UNLV last Friday night. The Cowboys and Spartans will be meeting for the 12th time this Saturday, with Wyoming holding a 7-4 advantage. The last time the two teams met, the Cowboys won 24-9 in Laramie. The Spartans won the last meeting in San Jose 20-17 in 2017.

Cowboy Defense Among Best in the Nation in 2021
While the offense is struggling, Wyoming’s defense continues to be one of the best in the nation, ranking No. 3 in the nation in pass defense and No. 16 in total defense in 2021. The Cowboys are allowing only 152.0 passing yards per game and are holding opponents to only 311.1 yards of total offense per game.

Cowboy linebacker Chad Muma continues to be one of the top defenders in the nation. He is currently is tied for No. 1 in the country in interception returns for touchdowns, with two, and ranks No. 4 nationally in solo tackles (6.7 per game), and is No. 10 in the country in total tackles (9.7 per game).
