
February 14, 2022 — The Wyoming Cowboy basketball team made their way into the Associated Press rankings on Monday, coming in at No. 22. It marked the first time since January 12, 2015, that the Cowboys have been ranked in the AP Poll. It is Wyoming’s highest ranking since being No. 13 in the polls heading into the NCAA Tournament in 1988. Gonzaga is the No. 1 team in this week’s AP poll.
The Cowboys have won their last six games and are 21-3 overall this season and 10-1 in conference play. Wyoming is in first place in the Mountain West Conference, 1/2 game in front of Boise State (10-2/19-6). The Pokes play at New Mexico (2-8/10-14) Tuesday night. The game can be heard on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Ike named Mountain West Player of the Week
UW sophomore Graham Ike earned his second Mountain West Player of the Week honor. It marks back-to-back weeks a Cowboy has earned the award; Hunter Maldonado did so last week, his third time this season.
Ike averaged 26.5 points per game and added 15 rebounds per night, as the Cowboys defeated Utah State and San Jose State. He also added two assists per game.
Cowgirls play tonight
The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will face-off against San Jose State for the second time in five days. The Cowgirls have won their last three games, including a 75-54 home win over the Spartans last Wednesday night. Tonight’s road game will be broadcast on WyoRadio’s 1360/103.5 KRKK and 1360KRKK.com beginning at 6:30 p.m. with tip-off at 7 p.m.
