Cowboys/Rams battle in the Border War tonight

January 31, 2022 — The Wyoming Cowboys will host Colorado State tonight in the Arena-Auditorium in the first Border War contest of the season. Going into tonight’s game, Wyoming is in second place in the Mountain West Conference with a 5-1 (16-3 overall), with CSU in third place with a 6-2 conference record (16-2) overall. In addition, the Rams are ranked #22 in the latest Coaches Poll with both teams receiving votes in this week’s AP Top 25 voting.

Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. with broadcast time at 5:30 p.m. on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com.

UW is coming off a 63-61 road win at Air Force. The game-winning basket came on a Hunter Maldonado layup at the buzzer. Colorado State is coming off a home loss to UNLV, 88-74. It was the Rams’ first home loss of the season.

Wyoming is led in scoring by Graham Ike at 19.9 points per game, #2 in the MW, and #25 in the nation. He also leads the team grabbing 8.9 rebounds per game, third in the MW. Senior guard Hunter Maldonado is next in scoring for the Pokes at 18.5 points per game to rank fifth in the conference. He also leads the team with 6.4 assists per game to lead the conference and rank #6 in the nation. 
 
The Rams are led by a pair of players — David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens. Roddy pours in 18.3 points per game, with Stevens collecting 16.2 points per game.

Wyoming leads the all-time series against the Rams 136-100, in a series that dates back to 1911. However, Colorado State has gotten the better of the Pokes lately, claiming wins in seven of the last ten meetings, three of which were in Laramie.
