January 18, 2022 — The Wyoming Cowboys used a complete team effort in recording their fifth road win Monday night as the Pokes downed Nevada 77-67 in Reno. All nine available players saw action for UW.

“We knew we were playing a talented team,” UW head coach Jeff Linder said. “Our guys did a great job on a short turnaround (Wyoming played last Saturday night at Utah State). Nevada is a hard team to guard, and our guys figured out that scouting report is what can you say it was a great effort.”

Graham Ike led the Pokes with 24 points, his eighth 20-point scoring performance of the season. He also grabbed 11 rebounds. Drake Jeffries added 20 points, including six 3-point shots in the first half of play. Hunter Maldonado added 11 points, with Hunter Thompson chipping in with 10 points off the bench.

Wyoming led at the half 40-38 and would stretch the lead to 47-42 five minutes into the second half only to have the Wolfpack tie the game at 47-47 with just under 14 minutes to play. But the Cowboys would grab back the lead and push it to 61-55 with 6:40 to play, eventually gaining a 10-point lead with under four minutes remaining.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys return to action, hosting San Jose State (0-3, 7-8) in the Arena-Auditorium for a 7 p.m. start. The game will be broadcast on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
