“The kids are excited for the first day of practice,” said Head Coach Gerald Mattinson, who enters his third season at the helm of the Cowgirls. “We’re excited to be back and to be playing hard and working hard. We were missing a couple of kids today, but overall I thought the first day went well and we hope that it’s the first of many good ones this year.”

All Wyoming Cowgirl basketball games will be broadcast
on WyoRadio’s 1360/103.5 KRKK and at 1360KRKK.com.

The Cowgirls are coming off a season where they won their first-ever Mountain West Tournament and made only the second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the program’s history. They return ten letterwinners, including a trio of starters in Tommi Olson, Alba Sanchez Ramos, and Quinn Weidemann. The Cowgirls also return leading-scorer McKinley. The Lyman sophomore averaged 11.7 points per game while mainly coming off the bench.

The Cowgirls open their season with exhibition games against Colorado Christian on October 29 and Colorado-Colorado Springs on November 5. Their season-opening game is November 9 at home against CSU Pueblo.
