October 16, 2021 — Similar to the weather that descended upon Laramie, the University of Wyoming soccer team’s offense struggled to warm up Friday. As a result, the Cowgirls dropped a 1-0 decision to UNLV at the Madrid Sports Complex.

The loss drops UW to 6-8-1 overall and 2-5-0 in Mountain West Conference play. The victory moves the Rebels to 10-6-0 overall and 3-4-0 in league action.

“We need to be able to find a way to rise when things are hard,” head coach Colleen Corbin said. “It comes down to composure, maturity, and grit to win the little battles so that we can win the big battle. I think we are still learning how to manage that.”

UNLV outshot Wyoming 17-8. Redshirt-junior midfielder Jamie Tatum paced the Cowgirls, accounting for half of those eight shots.

The Cowgirls remain at home and will celebrate Alumni Day on Sunday. Wyoming plays host to Nevada at 11 a.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex, where at halftime, former members of UW soccer will be recognized.

Cowgirl Volleyball meets first-place New Mexico today

The Wyoming Cowgirls ran their winning streak to three matches in a row last Thursday night as the Cowgirls picked up a straight-sets sweep over Air Force in Laramie, winning 25-19, 28-26, and 25-18.

UW will look to make it four wins in a row Saturday as they host New Mexico (14-4 overall, 5-2 in the MW).
