Rock Springs, WY (2/17/19) – The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball tam keeps rolling along by securing their seventh straight win Saturday in Reno, Nevada.
Wyoming defeated Nevada 55-51 to improve their MWC record to 9-3 (16-5 overall). The Cowgirls now find themselves 1/2 game out of second place behind New Mexico (10-3, 20-4). The Lady Lobos defeated Fresno State (9-4, 16-8) 77-70 Saturday. Boise State leads the MWC at 12-1 (21-3).
“To win on the road, as we always say, we’re looking for breakthroughs,” said head coach Joe Legerski. “It’s tough to play out here. I think Nevada’s a solid ball club. They just create issues for you, trying to defend against Redmon and Briggs, who are as good of an inside, outside combination as you play against. We really stepped up.”
Senior Marta Gomez led the Cowgirls with 13 points and five rebounds. Senior Bailee Cotton recorded six points but was a force on the boards recording 12 rebounds.
Cowgirls play at UNLV Wednesday night.
