Young Author’s Contest is underway

Sweetwater County- The Young Author’s Contest has begun in Sweetwater County for the 2021-2022 school year. The contest is open to all students from Kindergarten to grade 12. Fiction, Non-fiction, and poetry entries will be accepted. The deadline for entries for Rock Springs is February 25, 2022. The deadline for entries in Green River is February 18, 2022.

To enter, students in Green River will need to fill out an entry form and give the form and their entry to their English Teacher. When entering, it is important to follow the guidelines so that the entry is not disqualified. You can find a list of the guidelines with an entry form attached below.

At the District level, prizes are awarded to one First, Second, and Third place entry per grade, per category. At the Cunty level, prizes will be awarded to one First place and two honorable mentions entries per grade, per category. The Rock Springs District celebration is going to be held on March 10, at 6:00 p.m. The Green River District celebration is going to be held on February 28. The County celebration does not have a set time or date but it may be in late March. There will be no state-level competition this year.
