The National High School Finals Rodeo came to a conclusion last night in Gillette with the final performance featuring the top 20 cowboys and cowgirls in each event.
Ira Dickinson of Rock Springs competed in the finals of Steer Wrestling last night. Â Dickinson had a time of 10.44, sixth best on the night. Â Overall, Dickinson finished ninth in Steer Wrestling. Â While not making it to last night’s finals in Saddle Bronc, Dickinson finished in 30th place in the event.

Chance Anderson, McKinnon, 26th in Steer Wrestling
Karson Bradley, Big Piney, 132nd in Barrel Racing
Ryleee Whitman, Big Piney, 27th in Girl’s Cutting
Kody Chapman, Rock Springs, tied 34th in Light Rifle and 16th in Trap Shooting
Gillette’s Shay Hough won the All-Around Cowgirl award while Karsen York of Saratoga won the All-Around Rookie Cowboy title.
In the team competition, the Wyoming boys finished sixth with Texas winning the title. Â Texas also won the girl’s team title with Wyoming seventh. Â Team Texas won the combined team title with Team Wyoming ending up in sixth place.
The 2018 Nation Finals Rodeo will take place in Rock Springs at the Sweetwater Event Complex.
