Fire weather warning extended to 8 p.m. on Tuesday for Sweetwater County, surrounding areas

SWEETWATER COUNTY, WYOMING (August 9, 2021) – The U.S. National Weather Service in Riverton has extended the fire weather warning until Tuesday at 8 p.m. The affected areas include Rock Springs, Green River, Green River Basin, Flaming Gorge, Kemmerer and Rattlesnake Mountains.

Low humidity and strong gusty winds will create erratic fire behavior and potential new wildfire starts, according to the NWS report.

Wind gusts could reach up to 40 miles per hour on Monday and up to 35 miles per hour on Tuesday. Fourteen percent humidity is expected on Monday and nearly 10% on Tuesday.

Parts of Uinta County, Fremont County, Lincoln County and Sublette County are also under the fire weather warning.
