First annual coat bank next Saturday in Rock Springs

The coat bank at the Rock Springs Housing Authority is always open, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this year, a special time will be designated for families that cannot make it during regular hours.

The First Annual Coat Bank weekend handout will be next Saturday, October 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Rock Springs Housing Authority, located at 233 C St. in Rock Springs.

Sometimes kids don’t get off the bus and to their homes until after 5:00 p.m., making it impossible for parents to bring them to the coat bank during regular business hours. “That’s why we decided to go ahead and do it on a Saturday,” April Thompson, Housing Supervisor at Rock Springs Housing Authority, said. “Our goal is to make sure that no one goes cold outside.”

The coat bank features all kid’s sizes and most adult coat sizes, and there is no charge to receive a coat. The only requirement is that the person receiving a coat be present to be fitted properly.
