Flu and COVID walk-in vaccination clinics starting up Tuesday

September 24, 2021 — Starting this coming Tuesday, Sweetwater County Public Health will be holding weekly flu and COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics at the Sweetwater Events Complex. The Vaccination Clinic will continue to be held each Tuesday through the end of November except for election day, Nov. 2.

Flu shots are for those six months and older, while the COVID-19 shots are for ages 12 and older. The Pfizer Vaccine (2 doses) will be available for those 12 and older, the Moderna (2 doses) and Janssen (1 dose) will be available for those 18 and older.

Cost:

Flu – $25 dollars for the Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine. Cash or check is preferred. The following insurances are accepted: Medicare, Medicaid, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, UMR, United Healthcare.

COVID-19 – Free, an administration fee can be billed to your insurance, but no fee is directly billed to anyone receiving the vaccine.

Special Considerations

  1. Additional dose of Pfizer or Moderna:

Moderately to severely immunocompromised with certain health conditions such as active treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood, received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system, moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency, advanced or untreated HIV infection, active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.

Talk to your healthcare provider about your medical condition and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for you.

Booster dose of Pfizer:

People 65 years and older should receive a booster dose of Pfizer COVID-19 at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series

Residents in long-term care settings of any age should receive a booster dose of Pfizer COVID-19 at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series

People aged 50-64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster dose of Pfizer COVID-19 at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series

People aged 18-49 with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster dose of  Pfizer COVID-19 at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series, based on individual benefits and risks

People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster dose of Pfizer COVID-19 at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks

Vaccine Clinic Dates and Times:

9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30 (No clinic on 11/2, Election Day). Each session will go from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
