Former Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi dies at age 77

July 27, 2021 — Former Wyoming U.S. Senator Mike Enzi has died from complications from a bicycle accident near his home in Gillette. He was 77.

According to Newsweek.com, Enzi was discovered lying on a roadway by a passerby near his home in Gillette on Friday evening. First responders arrived at the scene to find Enzi unresponsive.

Before being life-flighted to Loveland, Colorado, he was taken to Campbell County Memorial Hospital, suffering from a broken neck and broken ribs.

According to a post on the former Senator’s Facebook page, “Former Wyoming U.S. Senator Mike Enzi passed away peacefully today (Monday) surrounded by his family.” 

“His family expressed their deep appreciation for all of the prayers, support and concern that has been shown. They now ask for privacy and continued prayers during this difficult time. The family is planning to hold a celebration of a life well-lived, with details being shared at a later date.”
According to the Associated Press, the Gillette Police Department is investigating the accident at this time.
