LARAMIE – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information that will lead to the apprehension of the individual(s) responsible for the poaching of a large buck mule deer north of Torrington.

The buck mule deer was discovered Nov. 27 on private land just south of South Gap on the Van Tassell Road. The deer was likely shot the evening or night of Nov. 26 and no meat was removed from the carcass. The season for antlered mule deer closed Oct. 14 in Goshen County.

“Buck mule deer are in the rut right now,” said Torrington Game Warden Luke May. “They are highly visible at this time of the year, which unfortunately makes them easy targets in cases if thrill killing. This takes an opportunity away from legal hunters.”
