July 18, 2021 — The Green River Knights were streamed rolled by nine first-inning runs by the high-powered Cody Cubs offense in losing the A West District title game 19-0 this afternoon in Lovell. The Cody top of the first-inning outburst was aided by a three-run home run and two doubles.
While the Cody offense was in high gear, the Cubs’ pitching was also top-notch in limiting Green River to just a single hit, a double by Jace Griffiths in the second inning. Cody pitcher Jackson Schroeder struck out 10 Knights in five innings for the complete-game victory. The game was cut short to five innings by the run rule.
Green River will now enter A State Tournament as the West #2 seed. Cody will be the West’s #1 seed. The A East District tournament is being played in Wheatland.
The American Legion A State Tournament will be played in Cheyenne beginning this Saturday.
