Laney Rim Fire Now 47% Contained

Fire crews have made good progress on the Laney Rim Fire burning around 25 miles south of Rock Springs.  According to a late night press release from the BLM, the fire is now at 47% containment. The size of the fire area is just under 12,500 acres.

Today wildland firefighters will continue to develop fire lines around the fire while continuing to monitor existing lines. Fire conditions are expected to remain elevated with isolated and widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and winds possible gusting to near 30 mph.

At last report there are 148 firefighters on the scene.  The Laney Rim fire has been burning since July 28th.
