October 10, 2021 — Today at the Sweetwater Events Complex, the Faith and Blue event will happen from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is part of the National Faith and Blue Weekend initiative that emphasizes ties between communities, law enforcement professionals, and houses of faith. Today’s local event will feature speakers from the faith community, local law enforcement agencies, choirs, and of course, food!

The “touch a truck event” featuring local law enforcement vehicles will begin at 3 p.m. There will also be adoptable animals available from Animal Control. In addition, there will be a coloring contest, a mock crime scene, and a photo booth for the kids.

A short ceremony will start at 4:00 and with dinner to follow.

This is a free event, and food will be served on a first-come-first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to be donated locally. You will receive a ticket for donated food items for an opportunity to win door prizes.

In an interview, last Sunday on Wyo4News Insights radio show, Sweetwater County Sheriff John Grossnickle said, “This is going to be a collaborative effort with all three law enforcement agencies within the county to show our support to the community, know what the community wants, and to see the support that we have from the community members.”

“This is going to be a great time to get together and talk about those issues, to come out in a type of environment where we’re just getting together to talk,” Green River Police Chief Tom Jarvie said.
