Octoberfest Friday October 1 at Senior Center in Green River

September 28, 2021 — Millions of people around the world are celebrating Octoberfest through the beginning of October, and Golden Hour Senior Center residents will be celebrating with the best of them. If you are a Sweetwater County resident 60 years or older, you are invited!

They will be hosting their first Octoberfest this Friday at 10 a.m. at Golden Hour Senior Center at 550 Uinta Drive in Green River. According to Executive Director Jackie Grubb, it won’t be the last.

“We’re looking to have a fun time and a really great meal,” Grubb said. “Socialization has been lacking during the pandemic for our seniors, so we’re doing as much as we can, safely.”

The event will include many fun activities, including pretzel making, cup stacking, and the Chicken Dance. Lunch will begin at 11:45, and will consist of sauerkraut, sauerbraten, spaetzle, roasted acorn squash, and apple strudel.

To accompany the enticing menu, the event will include beer tasting, compliments of Rock Springs’ own Square Street Brewing. Other entertainment includes an assorted selection of live music by the Joe Barbuto Trio.

The event will incorporate Covid safety protocols, including masks. Not a Halloween mask, to be sure!
