National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook, Rain and Snow Possible

Rock Springs and Green River are currently under a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the Riverton Office of the National Weather Service.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook encompasses most of Sweetwater, Fremont, Natrona, and Johnson Counties, and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Bighorn Mountains from 6 p.m. today until 6 p.m. tomorrow.

A Special Weather Statement from the NWS states that the storm system will spread rain showers across the area of Rock Springs, Green River, and Wamsutter this afternoon. The rain may change to snow tonight and tomorrow with one to two inches of snow possible. Up to six inches of snow is possible in higher elevations before the precipitation ends tomorrow night.

The next storm system will spread rain showers across the area this afternoon. Cooler air will move behind a cold front tonight and may change the rain over to snow tonight and Tuesday. 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible with up to 6 inches possible over the higher elevations before the precipitation ends Tuesday night.

Tonight…Rain will change to snow later tonight across many areas East of the Divide although exact position of the heaviest precipitation is still somewhat uncertain.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Tuesday through Sunday

Tuesday…Periods of rain and snow continuing East of the Divide.

Friday and Friday night…The next storm system looks to bring a chance of snow to portions of central and southwest Wyoming. The Eastern Wind River Range, Lander Foothills and southwest Wyoming look to be impacted the most based on the latest forecast track of this storm.
