New UW President may be named tomorrow

LARAMIE, WYOMING (Mar. 3, 2020) — According to the University of Wyoming Daily News publication, University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will be holding a special meeting tomorrow, March 4, at 7 a.m. via teleconference.

The Daily News is reporting the meeting will start with an executive session to discuss personnel and litigation. It then will move to open session, when the board may act to appoint the university’s 28th president.

The previously announced three finalist are Gregory W. Bowman, dean of the West Virginia University College of Law; Edward Seidel, vice president for economic development and innovation for the University of Illinois System; and Daniel M. White, chancellor of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees met with all three finalist in executive session last week. The new president will assume duties on July 1. Currently, Neil Thoebald is the university’s acting president.
