Norma Louise Gleeson

Norma Louise Gleeson, 92, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Wyoming for past 61 years, most of that time in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and a former resident of Lovell, Cody and Lusk, Wyoming.

Ms. Gleeson was born December 15, 1927 in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Percy Gleeson and Freda Steed Gleeson.

She attended schools in Indiana and was a 1944 graduate of Gov. I.P. Gray School at the age of 16.

Norma married Ed Cantrell in Indiana and moved to Wyoming in 1958 raising four children.  Ed preceded her in death on June 14, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She worked as a secretary for various firms including Kellogg & Kellogg Architecture, Frullo Architecture, Simpson and Kepler Law Firm, Lusk State Bank, and Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.  She retired in 1989.

Norma loved to cook, especially for her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s sporting and school activities.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Cantrell of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one sister, Marilyn Music and husband Larry of Louisville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Stacey Welsh of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Shaun Cantrell and wife Jessie of Rock Springs; four great-grandchildren, Shandon Welsh; Summer Kinne; Rayna Yeager; Paityn Yeager; one great-great grandson, Ryan Rogers; one sister-in-law, Kay Gleeson, four cousins, Ben Gleason, Norman Gleason, Marlene Kindle, and Marilyn Weber; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Gleeson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Samuel Cantrell; two daughters, Nancy O’Conner; Peggy Cantrell; one great-grandson, Brandon Franklin; and three brothers, Kenneth Gleeson, Gene Gleeson, and Larry Gleeson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
