Red Flag Warning Today, Winter Weather Possible By Wednesday

Rock Springs, WY (10/7/19) – The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Red Flag Warning for Sweetwater County and some surrounding counties from noon today until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. The weather service is forecasting gusty winds at 20 – 30 mph later today with humidity around 10% today and 15% Tuesday.

The Weather Service has also issued a winter weather alert for the area for late Wednesday and Wednesday night. Forecasters are calling for a strong cold front with snow to move through the region. While at this time most of the snowfall appears to be concentrated in the higher elevations of Sweetwater County, those driving to Jackson and Casper areas on Wednesday afternoon and night may experience icy or snow-covered roads.

Rock Springs and Green River will experience falling temperature Wednesday afternoon with a 50% chance of snow showers Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. No accumulations amounts have been forecasted. Wednesday’s high temperature is expected to be 53 but falling during the afternoon. Thursday’s high is expected to be just 27. Thursday night’s low is forecasted to be 11 degrees.
