Rock Springs Storm takes 2nd straight state 16U softball championship

July 19, 2021 — Congratulations to the Rock Springs Storm U16 girl’s softball team on winning their second straight state championship Sunday in Laramie. The team is made up of 13- to 17-year-olds.

The Storm defeated Laramie in the title game 17-9. Laramie jumped out to a 9-1 lead after four innings, but Rock Springs would score 16 runs in the last two innings for the victory and the championship.

Rock Springs opened the tournament with a 4-2 win over Lander, then defeated Laramie 5-2 to advance to the championship game. Laramie eliminated Lander in a loser-out game to earn a second chance at the Storm.

Storm 16U teams members are Ashley Anderson, Ava Erramouspe, Cienna Bennett, Hadlee Miller, Jo Heavin, Kadence Hernandez, Rachel Wallendorf, Jillian Palinek, Kiley Walker, Rikki Mortensen, Dani Jacobsen, Katie Copsey, and Tegan Stassinos.
