Knights drop their A-State tournament opener

July 25, 2021 — The A-State Wyoming American Legion State Tournament got off to a rocky start for the Green River Knights. The Cheyenne Hawks scored six runs in the first three innings in defeating Green River 14-0 in Cheyenne Saturday evening.

The Knights managed just three hits, all singles, in the game. Jax Peterson had two of the hits with the other from Taydin Cave.

Green River will play Lovell, a 10-0 loser to Wheatland, this morning at 10 a.m. in a loser-out game. The winner will play Monday afternoon.

In other scores from Saturday’s play, defending champion, Cody defeated Torrington 12-2, and Powell was a 5-3 winner over Douglas.
