The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office has recently received reports of a scam where people are attempting to sell their items online then the “buyer” then agrees to buy the item. However, the “buyer” wants to send a check to the seller for more than the agreed price. The “buyer” then requests the seller to cash the check and then send money orders for the extra amount back to the “buyer” and keep the agreed upon amount.

The Sheriff’s Department has received several reports of this locally. Sheriff KC Lehr is advising the public to be aware of scams like this, as there are always people out there trying to find new ways to deceive the public.
