SWEETWATER COUNTY- On the night of January 26 2022, Sweetwater Family Resource Center began the annual homeless PIT (Point-In-Time) count. This count takes place nationwide in January every year, as a way to keep track of the homeless population and to help homeless people find shelter.

Sweetwater Family Resource Center offers many services for the people of Sweetwater County and this includes finding shelter for the homeless. In a Facebook post, Sweetwater Family Resource Center states that so far they were only able to find a few unsheltered people because a majority have been helped by the resource center and are already staying in motels.

RSPD and volunteers helped with trying to track down people in order to make sure that everyone was accounted for. This will still be taking place for the rest of the week and help will be offered to those in need, especially those who have been homeless before, or since the night of January 26. The entire process can take up to a few weeks to complete.

If you or someone you know is homeless, you can reach Sweetwater Family Resource Center by calling (307) 362-6549. Currently, the center is closed due to employees being sick, leaving only two employees available. If you call and leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as they can.
