July 21, 2021 — The “Tacos for Tabitha” fundraising event will take place tonight to aid 8-year-old Sweetwater County resident Tabitha Lee. The taco bar event will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2350, 88 N 2nd E St. in Green River from 5-9 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and live entertainment from local rapper YT.
Lee was life-flighted to Denver, Colorado, and diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, as well as COVID-19, back on December 2, 2020. She spent the following 22 days in isolation, beginning her fight against cancer. She had to have spinal tap chemotherapy twice a week. Along with those procedures, she also had a port catheter placed, x-rays, EKGs, and ultrasounds on her liver and kidneys.
After being released from the hospital, because Wyoming does not have any medical care facilities to assist her, she was placed in a clean-living facility called Brent’s Place in Denver, Colorado. Brent’s Place provides a safe environment and gives Tabitha a chance to meet other kids like her and the opportunity to do special activities like music lessons.
