Tigers and Eagles go for football state titles Saturday

November 12, 2021 — Today and tomorrow, Wyoming State High School Championships will be decided. All games will be played at War Memorial Stadium on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie. Two of the five scheduled games hold the most interest.

Class 4A – Saturday 4 p.m. Rock Springs vs. Sheridan. These two teams have been rated #1 and #2 most of the season. Both are 10-1 on the year, with the Tiger’s lone loss coming to Sheridan, 27-24, on September 17. That game was played on Broncs home field and was decided with less than two minutes to play. The Tigers last won a football state championship in 2002. Sheridan won the championship in 2019 and has won four of the last six state title games.

WyoRadio along with Infinity Power and Controls, Commerce Bank of Wyoming, Schumacher Law, and Wyoming Beverages will present a Tiger pre-game tailgate party in the parking lot outside the main entrance of War Memorial Stadium. The tailgate party begins at 1:30 p.m. and is free to attend.

Class 2A – Saturday 10 a.m. Lyman vs. Lovell. – Lyman, the defending 2A State Champion, comes into the game with a 10-0 record, while Lovell is 9-1. The two teams meet on September 17 in Lovell, with Lyman coming out on top 35-15. Lovell’s last state championship was in 2011.

Class 1A-9 Man – Saturday 1 p.m. Shoshoni (9-1) vs. Rocky Mountain (9-1)
Class 1A-Man – Today at noon.
