October 11, 2021 — Every day has something to celebrate!

Here is what we are celebrating today:

“Columbus Day” – Fourteen states choose to celebrate today as Indigenous People’s Day instead of Columbus Day. Wyoming is not one of them, but the state also doesn’t officially recognize Columbus Day. However, Alabama and Oklahoma celebrate both.

“International Day of the Girl Child” – A day established by the United Nations to promote girls’ rights and address the unique challenges they face.

“Southern Food Heritage Day” – America’s favorite “southern foods” include buttermilk biscuits, fried chicken, peach cobbler (thank you, Georgia), and of course grits.
