Winter Storm Warning In Effect Through Friday Morning

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Storm Warning which includes the cities of Rock Springs and Green River from 5 p.m. today until 11 a.m. Friday.

This is an upgraded alert from a previously issued Winter Storm Watch.

Snow accumulation between 5 and 8 inches is expected along with strong winds.

..WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO

11 AM MST FRIDAY…

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter

Storm Warning for snow and wind, which is in effect from 5 PM

this afternoon to 11 AM MST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no

longer in effect.

* TIMING…Light snow is expected to increase in coverage and

intensity by early evening. The heaviest snowfall should occur

between the predawn hours Thursday and through Thursday evening.

Snow will continue Thursday night, before subsiding by midday Friday.

* SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION…Ranging from 5 to 8 inches.

* Visibility and wind…North to northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts

to 40 mph in open areas creating areas of blowing and drifting

snow and visibilities under one quarter mile at times.

* MAIN IMPACT…Roads, including Interstate 80, will become slick

and snow covered. Considerable blowing and drifting snow could

make travel difficult in blowing and drifting snow
