Winter Storm Watch To Begin Friday Afternoon Through Saturday


According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Sweetwater County and the surrounding area can expect the weather to possibly get a bit nasty beginning Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

The weather service is predicting heavy snow showers possible with winds gusting to near 60 mph in some areas.  Snowfall totals cold range from one to three inches in the Rock Springs, Green River, East Sweetwater County and Flaming Gorge areas with the winds causing low visibility.

At this time the strongest combination of heavy snow and strong winds will likely occur Saturday morning.

The winter storm watch will be in effect for the southeast portion of Lincoln County with possible snow accumulations of two to 10 inches and winds gusting to near 65 mph.  This will effect the cities of Kemmerer and Cokeville.

A winter storm advisory is also in effect for the central part of the state Friday through Saturday.
