Winter type weather hitting South Pass and the central part of the state tonight

October 18, 2021 — A notice to travelers, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for portions of central Wyoming from late Monday night through Tuesday evening (see map above).

This watch includes the northern higher elevations of Sweetwater County going over South Pass and most of Natrona County, possibly impacting road conditions on I25 and roads in the higher elevations.

Areas of heavy snow are possible, with snow accumulations of three to 10 inches expected, especially in the higher elevations. South Pass City is expecting two to four inches night with three to five more inches Tuesday. Winds are expected to gust to around 25 mph tonight and Tuesday. Casper’s forecast is calling for snow showers tonight with one to three inches of snow during the day on Tuesday. Casper Mountain could receive a considerably higher amount of snow.

Rock Springs and the Green River area could see snow showers tonight and Tuesday. Accumulations are expected to be an inch or less. See the local seven-day forecast here.
