Wyo4News Mid-Day Recap: January 31, 2022


January 31, 2022 — Here is a recap of this morning’s top Wyo4News local stories.

**** High winds are expected today, with the southwestern part of the state seeing wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph. Wind gusts of 60 to 90 mph are forecast for the southeastern part of Wyoming, including areas of I-80. Locally those winds will decrease during the night but could still gust to near 30 mph at times.

****  Congratulations to the Green River Wolves Co-Ed cheer team for their 4A State Champion win Friday at the State Spirit Competition held in Casper. Also Friday, Mountain View won the 3A State Championship in the 3A All Girl Cheer competition. Other area cheer and dance results can be found at Wyo4News.com.

**** The first big deadline is looming for hunters to apply for 2022 Wyoming hunting applications. Midnight tonight is the application deadline for elk, spring turkey, and the Wyoming Game and Fish Departments Super Tag raffle entry. All applicants must apply online at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department website and have a username and password.


**** The matchup for Superbowl 56 is set. Cincinnati will meet the LA Rams in the February 13 game. Yesterday, Cincinnati defeated Kansas City 27-24 in overtime while the Rams came for behind to defeat San Francisco 20-17. The pro football championship game will mark the first Superbowl appearance for former Wyoming Cowboy and Casper native Logan Wilson who starts at linebacker for the Bengals.

**** The first basketball Border War will take place tonight in Laramie when the Cowboys host Colorado State in men’s basketball. The Pokes enter tonight’s game at 5-1 in Mountain West with the Rams sporting a 6-2 conference mark. Game time is 6 p.m. with the broadcast beginning at 5:30 on WyoRadio’s 99.7 JACK-FM and 99KSIT.com.
